Activities in Charlevoix

There is no lack of outdoor activities in the region.

In the winter, skiing is very popular. Le Massif Ski Resort is just a few minutes drive from the Auberge.

Furthermore, five kilometres of snowshoeing and cross-country trails await you at Le Domaine à Liguori.

In springtime, birdwatchers are very welcomed at the Auberge when snow geese and other migratory birds are returning. You will be ready to flush out some of the many species around at this time of the year, after having a box lunch (prepared on request) and advice on the best bird watching spots.

Summertime is filled with things to do: hiking, visiting Baie-St-Paul's art galleries, sea kayaking, whale watching excursions and golfing. Set off from the Auberge to partake in these many activities or take it easy while relaxing in our spa and admiring the scenery or reading beside our trout pond. By chance, you just might see the great heron's daily try at filching a trout or two from the pond. In August, the town of Baie-St-Paul, a fifteen minute drive from the Auberge, organizes its well-known annual International Contemporary Art Symposium.

In autumn, the mountain is adorned in fall colours for all to enjoy. Come and admire the breathtakingly beautiful scenery. The Autumn Dream Festival puts emphasis on Charlevoix's artistic tradition of painted landscapes. During this event, the Massif Ski Resort lift rides will allow you to admire both the autumn coloured mountain and the sparkling river. Unforgetable scenery.

Fall is the ideal time for cycling enthusiasts to measure up to the challenge of climbing Charlevoix's steep hills. The weather is cooler and a full season of cycling will certainly come in handy when facing the hills.

Fall is also hunting season. The Cap Tourmente national Wildlife Area, situated about 40 kilometres from the Auberge, is well known for white and barnacle goose hunting. Migratory bird hunting is also allowed along the railroad tracks outside the town limits.
